The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for greed in this director's delightfully tacky true story of the disgraced televangelist plus her lawbreaking partner. Andrew Garfield acts as the corrupt Bakker, who states at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple commence monetising the American public's spiritual convictions. It's a riot of tacky decor, overdone appearance and bad faith, however Chastain achieves to present the character as a sympathetic figure. October 14th, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
